This week we joined 302 Catholic schools across Queensland in celebrating Catholic Education Week. Catholic schools in Queensland educate approximately 146,000 students and employ more than 18,500 teachers and staff. On Monday, we gathered in prayer as a whole school to celebrate the significance of Catholic Education Week and this year’s theme ‘Sharing the Journey’.
So what exactly is it that our Catholic schools are striving to achieve? In essence, Catholic schools strive to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society. At Mary Immaculate, we look for opportunities to achieve this mission in many ways, such as the Soup Kitchen experience being offered to students in Years 3 to 6 this Friday evening.
