Last Monday we gathered with the staff and students of Our Lady’s College to celebrate the feast of Australia’s first saint, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Both schools have a strong connection with Mary MacKillop given our long association with the Sisters of St Joseph. Once again this year, the gathering followed the traditional format of a liturgy followed by a short play focusing on Mary’s life. And once again, the celebrations were very meaningful and engaging for our two communities!
At the end of the celebrations, Our Lady’s College Principal, Mrs Paula Goodwin, presented our community with a gift in acknowledgement of our centennial year. The portrait of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop will be installed in our front foyer and will be yet another symbol of our connections with both the Sisters of St Joseph and the community of Our Lady’s College.
